The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) commenced a trial run on the 320 million litres per day (mld) Nagole sewage treatment plant (STP) in Hyderabad, Telangana on July 15, 2024. The plant is likely to be inaugurated by the end of July 2024.
The STP is one of the 31 STPs being developed by HMWS&SB on a public-private partnership-based hybrid annuity mode in three packages to augment the capacity of sewage treatment in the city. Nagole STP has been developed under package 2 of the project. The package I includes the construction of 8 STPs with the capacity of 402.5 mld; package II includes the construction of 6 STPs with the capacity of 480.5 mld under phase II and package III involves the construction of 17 STPs with the capacity of 376.5 mld under phase I.
