BRO to construct Karcham-Chitkul Road near China border

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is set to commence construction on a 40 km stretch from Karcham to Chitkul via Sangla in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district, which borders China. Currently, the road requires widening and metalling, particularly near Karcham, which hosts a 1,500 MW power project. The stretch features sharp turns and needs increased width to accommodate safe passage. This project aims to boost the local economy and enhance connectivity in the region.
