Power consumption per passenger at Delhi airport falls by 57 per cent

The Indira Gandhi International Airport has reduced the per passenger electricity consumption by 57 per cent. When T3 was operationalised in 2010, the consumption stood at 5.18 kWh, which Delhi International Airport Limited reduced to 2.21 kWh by 2023 by implementing various green initiatives. The airport has adopted various energy-saving measures including integration of green building practices and use of energy-efficient infrastructure. It has also taken efforts to optimise consumption. Further, state-of-the-art and dedicated automation is being used in complex airport systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and baggage handling. The airport aims for year-on-year reductions in energy consumption by implementing innovative solutions.
