The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned Rs 8.76 billion for the extension of the Harbour Line till Borivalli under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) Phase III-A. The project involves expanding existing rail lines, constructing new rail corridors, procuring AC local trains and making arrangements for their parking, redeveloping stations and improving signalling systems. It is an extension of MUTP III and includes a number of already sanctioned projects.
