Chennai’s satellite terminal proposal revived by AAI

The Airports Authority of India has reportedly revived the proposal for a satellite terminal at Chennai airport. The earlier proposal, made six years ago, was dropped due to logistics and land acquisition issues. The satellite terminal is likely to be situated between the primary and secondary runways, near the remote bays in the airside area. It is expected to handle additional international flight operations. According to the new plan, an elevated corridor from National Highway 32 will directly connect passengers to the satellite terminal, for which the detailed project report is being prepared.
