As per the Indian Ports Association, Indian major ports handled a cargo volume of 69.08 million tonnes (mt) in June 2024, an increase of 6.8 per cent year-on-year (YoY), as compared to June 2023 (64.94 mt).
Port-wise, Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Maharashtra recorded the highest growth in cargo handling at 15.12 per cent, followed by Cochin Port with 15.12 per cent, Kamarajar Port (10.70 per cent), Deendayal Port (8.57 per cent) New Mangalore Port (8.53 per cent), during the month under consideration.
Meanwhile, in June 2024 Mumbai Port and Visakhapatnam Port witnessed a YoY decline of 6.59 per cent and 0.27 per cent, respectively.
