The trial run commenced on Fatehnagar and Khajakunta sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Hyderabad, Telangana on June 29, 2024.
These STPs are part of the 31 STPs being developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The project involves the construction of a total of 31 STPs on a public-private partnership-based hybrid annuity mode in three packages to augment the capacity of sewage treatment in the city. Package I includes the construction of 8 STPs with a capacity of 402.5 million litres per day (mld), package II includes the construction of 6 STPs with a capacity of 480.5 mld under phase II and package III involves the construction of 17 STPs with a capacity of 376.5 mld under phase I.
