The government of Haryana has implemented a policy to reuse treated wastewater (TWW) in irrigation, power plants and industries. The water supply in power plants will be substituted by TWW by December 2024. This would push the water conservation efforts with the Public Health Engineering Department leading efforts to reuse TWW. It aims to reuse 50 per cent of TWW by 2025 and 80 per cent by 2030 under the policy.
Furthermore, the district water conservation plans have also been prepared for all 22 districts in Haryana. They have been uploaded on the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Central Portal. These plans include demand and supply side interventions and strategic action plans for water conservation, public education and awareness for micro-level village plans as well as department-wise action plans and strategies.
