The Tamil Nadu government has announced the second phase of the Chief Minister’s Rural Road Development Programme, targeting the improvement of 10,000 km of rural roads at a cost of Rs 40 billion over the next two years.
To date, 8,120 km of roads have been completed under this phase. Additionally, the state government has sanctioned the construction of 16,596 km of roads and 425 flyovers under various schemes, including the Chief Minister’s Rural Roads Development Programme, NABARD Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, and the Prime Minister’s Village Road Scheme, over the past three years. This combined project, costing Rs 93.24 billion, will continue for the next two years to further enhance rural infrastructure.
