The Pune Airport, Maharashtra has received an approval from the Ministry of Defence for an obstacle limitation surface (OLS) survey for the extension of the runway. The OLS survey would be conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The OLS survey facilitates the identification and mapping of obstacles around the airport and creates maps of the protected airspace. This would ensure safe operations of aircraft and prevent interference during operations. It would also enable the handling of widebody aircraft, hence expanding the airport’s network of international flights.
