Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel road project to begin in August 2024

Construction on the Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel road project (AKMTR) is set to start in August 2024. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has allocated Rs 21.49 billion for the project.

Package I of the project includes the construction of two Bow String Steel Arch Major Bridges across River Iravanjippuzha and a four-lane approach road (0-0.46 km) and Package II involves the construction of a twin-tube unidirectional tunnel (8.27 km) with four-lane approach roads in the Kozhikode and Wayanad districts for direct connectivity between Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi from 0.46 km to 8.735 km in Kerala.
