The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has provided clearance for the proposed airport located at Purandar in Pune, Maharashtra. The no-objection certificate for the site had already been provided by the Ministry of Defence.
Meanwhile, discussions are underway for the provision of necessary clearances, and steps for land acquisition are likely to commence soon. The airport was facing delays due to technical issues, revisions in the proposed site, etc. However, the airport is to now come up on the site that was initially proposed.
