A tunnel boring machine (TBM) named Anaimalai has completed tunnelling between Ayanavaram metro and Otteri metro.
This section, from Ayanavaram to Otteri, is a part of the 9 km underground segment on the 45.4 km corridor-3, which extends from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot. A total of seven tunnel boring machines have been deployed for tunnelling work on this stretch.
Chennai Metro Phase-2 consists of three corridors covering a total of 116.1 km, with 23 TBMs slated to be used throughout the project.
