The second phase of the Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road, connecting Worli and Marine Drive, has been inaugurated. Mumbai Coastal Road Phase 2 spans 10.58 km, connecting Marine Drive to the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
Featuring 4+4 lanes, a bridge on stilts, an elevated road, and twin tunnels, the road includes entry and exit points at Amarsons Garden, Haji Ali, and Worli Seaface. This development is projected to cut travel time by 70 per cent and reduce fuel consumption by 34 per cent.
Currently, the northbound carriageway operates from 7 AM to 11 PM, with ongoing work to connect it to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, expected to be completed by October 2024. The construction cost for the project is approximately Rs 139.84 billion, which was constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
