Operations commenced from the new integrated terminal at the Trichy International Airport on June 11, 2024.
Construction for the terminal commenced in February 2019 and it was inaugurated in January 2024. The new terminal spans an area of 75,000 square meters and was developed at a cost of around Rs 11.12 billion. It also has a capacity to handle 4.45 million passengers per annum. The terminal was awarded a 4-star Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). It also features a parking area with charging facilities for electric vehicles.
Further, measures have also been adopted to ensure smooth transitioning of international and domestic operations from the old terminal to the new one.
