Around 30 per cent of the work completed on Greenfield Eastern Bypass

The construction of the Greenfield Eastern Bypass and the third phase of the Western Bypass, key segments of the Outer Ring Road project under Bharatmala Pariyojana, is progressing rapidly. This project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the city and on NH-44, while improving connectivity on state highways such as Karnal-Indri, Karnal-Kunjpura, and Karnal-Meerut roads. Approximately 30 per cent of the work has been completed. The project is expected to be completed by June 2025.

The project includes the Greenfield Eastern Bypass from Shamgarh to Bastara toll plaza and the third phase of the Greenfield Western Bypass from Bastara toll to Samalkha village near Munak Road, spanning a total of 34.5 km with an estimated cost of Rs 17 billion. It features 15 vehicular underpasses, one railway overbridge, three major bridges, eight minor bridges, two NH-44 intersections, and six flyovers. The bypass traverses several villages, including Dadupur, Jhanjhari, Kurali, and Kutail.
