The construction work has commenced on the 2.9 km Assonora Bypass in Goa, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion on the state highway. The Assonora Bypass, stretching from Sirsaim to Mulgao, will initiate in Sirsaim (Tivim) and connect with the existing road in Mulgao.
The project, awarded to MVR Construction, is expected to be completed within 18 months and costs approximately Rs 1.60 billion. Funded by the state government and designed according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) guidelines, the bypass includes a bridge across the Assonora River, an underpass for Shirgao Road, and cattle passes, as the route traverses agricultural fields.
