Indian Railways (IR) achieved freight loading of 139.16 million tonnes (mt) in May 2024, which is 9 per cent higher than in April 2024. The combined freight loading achieved in April 2024 and May 2024 is 267.47 mt.
Commodity wise, IR achieved loading of 72 mt in coal, 14.16 mt in iron ore and 12.85 mt in cement. Moreover, it registered freight earnings of Rs 152.3 billion in May 2024, an increase of 8.2 per cent compared to Rs 140.75 billion recorded in April 2024.
