A sewage treatment plant (STP) with a capacity of 2 million litres per day (mld) will be set up to address the discharge of untreated sewage into Katraj Lake, particularly in Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in Pune by June 2024.
At present, the Pune Municipal Corporation has installed a sewage pipeline spanning a length of 1,100 metres and 900 metres in diameter. This would further prevent the sewage inflow into the lake.
