The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) recommended the grant of amendment in environment clearance (EC) for the modification of marine side activities towards north side under the Redi Port project in its meeting held on April 25-26, 2024.
The proposed amendment involves increase in length of the north breakwater by 515 metres in phase-II and the south breakwater by 515 metres in phase-I and 1,995 metres in phase-II, increase in dredging quantity by 2.13 million cubic metres (mcm), decrease in reclamation quantity by 1mcm and decrease in length of the approach channel by 155 metres.
The phase I and phase II development of Redi Port includes cargo handling capacity for phase I: 5.16 million tonnes per annum (mtpa); phase II (cumulative): 13.74 mtpa development of three berths for handling dry bulk cargo, general cargo and development of navigation and back up facilities.
