Coimbatore Municipal Corporation plans completion of Singanallur STP by June 2024

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation proposes to complete the works related to the Singanallur sewage treatment plant (STP) by June 2024. The Singanallur water tank is fed by the Noyyal and Sanganur canals which are extremely polluted. This water further flows from the Noyyal canal and reaches the Sulur tank. Besides, the Singanallur tank is being contaminated with the discharge of sewage.

The Corporation started the construction of STP along the Tiruchi Road in Singanallur in June 2023. Around 95 per cent of the work has been completed and only a machinery procured from Bengaluru needs to be fixed. Upon completion of this work, the STP would treat two million litres per day of wastewater. The machinery fitting exercise has started.
