Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has transformed a total of its 60 trains, comprising 95 rakes into Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. These LHB coaches are equipped with anti-collision technology along with other amenities such as Fire and Smoke Detection System (FSDS) and advanced hydraulic shock absorber, among others.
Currently, NFR is operating 912 AC coaches and 822 Sleeper Class coaches, 129 luggage vans and 67 pantry cars with LHB models. Additionally, it is likely to build around 56 new foot over bridges (FOBs) as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The zone has already built 10 FOBs for safety and comfort of the passengers. Presently, about 279 FOBs are functional in the zone, covering the Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia divisions.
