The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has started the hydro testing for the Cauvery Stage V project. The project targets to provide water to 110 villages around the periphery of Bengaluru. The project inspection will take place upon the completion of testing and sent for approval to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). JICA is funding the project through a loan.
It is expected that the project will be completed by the middle of June 2024 and start supplying water. It will pump 775 million litres per day of water from Cauvery to these villages through more than 2,800 km of pipeline and three pump houses.
