Indian major ports handle 67.28 mt of cargo traffic during April 2024 

During April 2024, the Indian major ports handled 67.28 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic, compared to 65.87 mt in April 2023, registering a growth of 2.14 per cent. Port-wise, the Paradip Port handled the maximum cargo at 12.3 mt during April 2024, followed by Deendayal Port (11.74 mt) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (7.16 mt).

The overseas cargo handled at the major ports increased by 3.68 per cent from 49.96 mt during April 2023 to 51.8 mt during April 2024. Meanwhile, the coastal cargo handled at the major ports decreased by 2.7 per cent from 15.92 mt during April 2023 to 15.49 mt during April 2024.
