Redevelopment of exiting terminal at Pune airport likely to commence in June 2024

Works for the redevelopment of the existing terminal building at the Pune airport are likely to commence from June 2024.

Rs 250 million has reportedly been sanctioned for the project. The existing terminal building has been integrated with the new terminal, with the additional equipment to be placed as the work progresses. The redevelopment is targeted for completion by March 2025.

Works on the existing building include the conversion of the arrival area into another departure area and the conversion of the first floor to a new security hold area. The new departure area would feature 16 new check-in counters and five new X-ray baggage scanning machines. The existing building’s departure area and the four baggage conveyor belts are to be dismantled.

The new terminal building was virtually inaugurated in March 2024, and operations on the new building are likely to commence only in June 2024, once work commences on the existing building.
