The Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) will adopt ozonation technology for treating drinking water and ensuring the supply of clean and safe drinking water to the residents of Shimla.
Currently, a chlorination disinfection system is being used for water treatment which is vulnerable to some health issues. As a result, SJPNL is reducing the chlorination of water, especially in the bulk water supply. However, the residual effects of chlorine cannot be removed from the distribution system as per the latest available techniques.
