The SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) has been selected by Air India as its strategic partner to develop the airline’s base maintenance facilities at Bengaluru.
SIAEC and Air India are to work on the planning, construction, development and operationalisation of the base maintenance facilities. These are expected to commence operations from 2026 onwards.
The facilities are targeted to cater to the overall maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) needs of the Air India Group’s fleet of aircraft. The collaboration would increase the self-reliance of the airline for the maintenance of its fleet. It also indicates the airline’s commitment to strengthen the aviation infrastructure of the country by boosting the MRO growth.
