The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin has revised parameters for the berthing of vessels at north cargo berth (NCB) II. This includes quay length of 306 metres, permissible overall length (LOA) of 260 metres, permissible draught of 14 metres (such vessels to be handled during daylight hours and utilising a tide of at least 0.65 metres, in rising tide), 80,000 metric tonnes deadweight tonnage.
Besides, all vessels with more than 11.5 metres draught shall be handled / lightered only at NCB II using harbour mobile crane (HMC) and hoppers with effect from May 12, 2024, and no bulk vessels will be handled at berth no. 9 by the port with effect from May 15, 2024.
