Indian Railways laid over 27,000 km of railway tracks over the past decade

Indian Railways (IR) has laid a total of 27,057.7 km of railway tracks from 2014-15 to 2023-24. This has resulted in an average track laying rate of 7.41 km per day which includes new line, doubling, tripling and gauge conversion during these ten years.

Last year, IR laid a total of 5,200 km of tracks and this year it is focusing on laying 5,500 km of tracks with average track laying rate of 15 km per day.
