NHAI completes construction of two tunnels on Pathankot-Mandi road

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved a significant milestone by completing the construction of two double-lane tunnels in the initial phase of the Pathankot-Mandi four-lane project near Kotla. These tunnels, constructed between Trilokpur and Kotla, traverse through challenging mountainous terrain. The first tunnel, spanning 700 m, will divert traffic away from Kotla town, while the second tunnel will bypass the landslide-prone Hanuman stretch of the old highway. The total cost of this phase, including the construction of the tunnels, is estimated at Rs 5.23 billion. The 219 km long Pathankot-Mandi road is a crucial project linking Pathankot with Leh, Ladakh, and other strategically important areas, enhancing connectivity and safety along this route.
