IR to commence trial runs for Vande Bharat Sleeper trains and Vande Metro trains

Indian Railways (IR) is likely to commence trial run of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains and Vande Metro trains by May 2024 and July 2024, respectively. Further, the Vande Metro train service will cover 124 cities which include Lucknow-Kanpur, Agra-Mathura, Delhi-Rewari, Bhubaneswar-Balasore, Tirupati-Chennai among others. Also, it will have 12 coaches which can be extended up to 16 coaches as per the passenger traffic requirement. Some features of this train include increased acceleration along with reduced stoppages. Furthermore, the Vande Metro train service will operate on shorter routes covering distances of 100 to 250 km, while the Vande Bharat Sleeper train service will operate on longer routes covering over 1,000 km. Besides, a new Vande Bharat train service from Kolhapur will also start its operations soon.
