Southern Railway (SR) has planned to deploy KAVACH system on a total of 2,216 km of tracks in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which will be implemented in a phased manner. Thus, for the first phase, Chennai-Arakkonam (68 km), Arakkonam-Renigunta (65 km), and Chennai-Gudur (138 km) sections are identified and during the second phase, Jolarpettai-Salem-Erode (179.26 km), Villupuram-Tiruchchirappalli (178 km), Arakkonam-Jolarpettai (150 km), Erode-Irugur-Coimbatore-Podanur (106.54 km), Chengalpattu-Villupuram (102.76 km), Chennai-Egmore-Tambaram-Chengalpattu (60 km) sections will be covered.
