Delhi Jal Board (DJB) plans to build a new STP of one million gallons per day (mgd) capacity in sector A of Vasant Kunj, located around 2.5 km away from Hauz-i-Shamsi talab.
The residents of wards 6 and 8 have been receiving polluted drinking water from the reservoir and the new STP would treat the sewage discharged directly into it. Reportedly, a proposal has been sent by DJB to National Water Mission on April 9, 2024 for the construction of the STP along with other associated works. The new STP will be established at the location of the existing STP dysfunctional for more than 10 years. The approval process for the new STP began on April 18, 2024.
