The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) has recommended grant of extension of environmental clearance (EC) for the Hazira Multi-Cargo Port project and the Jaigarh Port project – phase II till May 2, 2025 and December 18, 2025, respectively.
The Hazira Multi-Cargo Port Project involves development of a multi-cargo port at Hazira in Gujarat with supporting utilities and infrastructure facilities. It was developed by Adani Hazira Port Private Limited (AHPPL), a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) incorporated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZL) for project implementation. It includes a total of 12 berths, of which six berths have been developed, 229 hectares (ha) of the total area [496.63 ha + 301.01 (forest land)] has been developed.
The Jaigarh Port Project – phase II involves development of Jaigarh Port in Maharashtra as an all-weather, deep-water multi-commodity port with an investment of Rs 25 billion. It aims to increase the port’s handling capacity to 80 mtpa with a total of 14 berths. At present, about 60 per cent of the work has been completed. Seven berths have been developed and the remaining berths are expected to be developed by December 2025.
