With the help of the Conciliation and Settlement Committee (CSC), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has resolved a pending commercial dispute with the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor it hired for infrastructure development works of the special economic zone (SEZ). The CSC is an alternate dispute resolution mechanism set up by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Signed on April 12, 2024, the settlement agreement contains the amount to be paid to the EPC contractor, subcontractors and the timeline and the amount payable to the EPC contractor to be distributed among various agencies engaged by it. Meanwhile, JNPA will take up the balance works, the cost of which will be recovered from the EPC contractor.
