The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) is set to undertake a significant expansion of the upkeep-cum-parking hub at Salt Lake’s Central Park for the East-West Metro project. The maintenance depot will be expanded to accommodate 29 rakes. Currently, the depot is capable to house 23 rakes. With plans to acquire 11 additional six-car rakes by 2026, KMRC aims to create space for these by adding six tracks or stabling lines. A suitable location within the 38.5-acre facility at Central Park has been earmarked for this expansion.
