Rail Coach Factory (RCF) at Kapurthala has manufactured a total of 1,901 coaches during 2023-24 which is 15 per cent higher than previous year. These include 1,217 Air Conditioned (AC) coaches, 216 linke hofmann busch (LHB) sleeper coaches, 98 Deen Dayalu coaches and 316 3phase mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) coaches. During March 2024, it produced 207 coaches along with 208 shells. Further, it registered scrap sale of Rs 214.8 million along with turnover ratio of Rs 43.01 billion. Besides, RCF has completed 70 per cent work on its first 16 coach Vande metro electric train, the prototype is likely to be ready by end-April 2024. With this, RCF plans to roll out 9 Vande Bharat trains by March 2025.
