TBM S-640B completes breakthrough under Package KNPCC-06 of Kanpur Metro Phase I

Tunnel boring machine (TBM) S-640B completed first breakthrough at Nayaganj station under Package KNPCC-06 of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project-Phase I on March 28, 2024. Package KNPCC-06 involves design and construction of tunnel through TBM, cut and cover tunnel, underground ramp from Kanpur Central end of Nayaganj station to elevated ramp after Transport Nagar and three underground metro stations viz. Kanpur Central, Jhakarkatti and Transport Nagar including architectural finishes, electrical and mechanical (E&M), tunnel ventilation system (TVS) etc. on IIT-Naubasta via Jhakarkati bus terminal corridor (Corridor 1). The joint venture (JV) of Afcons Infrastructure Limited and Sam India Builtwell Private Limited were awarded its contract.
