The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) is likely to manufacture a total of 3,000 coaches which includes 1,400 coaches of Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB), 644 coaches of Vande Bharat trains, 480 three phase electric multiple unit (EMU) trains, 276 coaches of mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) trains along with several other types. In a notable development, ICF has manufactured its 1,000th distributed power system (DPS) coach on March 17, 2024. This is the highest number of such coaches produced in a production year by Indian Railways. These coaches are of self-propelled type which has locomotives being part of passenger section along with the propulsion power distributed in units of three or four. Besides, ICF and other production units will be producing a total of 50 Amrit Bharat trains during 2024-25. For this, ICF will produce 260 coaches of sleeper class, 176 coaches of general class and 52 seating cum luggage rake (SLR) coaches.
