GMDA commences construction work on fifth filtration unit at Chandu Budhera WTP

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has commenced the construction work on the fifth filtration unit at Chandu Budhera water treatment plant (WTP) in Haryana. The scope of work involves augmentation of WTP by the construction of a 100 million litres per day (mld) capacity unit 5 at an estimated cost of Rs 525 million. It will increase the capacity of WTP to 500 mld from the existing capacity of 300 mld fulfilling the water supply needs of sectors 81 to 115. It is likely to be completed by 2025. Besides, about 30 per cent of construction has been completed on the Chandu Budhera water supply project (unit 4). The scope of work involves the construction of a 100 mld capacity unit 4. It is likely to be completed by December 2024. The overall scope of the project includes the construction of Chandu Budhera WTP that will be connected to sector 5 with a 900 mm pipeline and cover over 90 underground tanks present in sectors 9, 9A, 7, 4 12, New Colony, etc.
