TBM DZ-1090 achieves breakthrough under Package PC-03 of Patna Metro

Tunnel boring machine (TBM) DZ-1090 has achieved the first tunnel breakthrough at Patna University station under Package PC-03 of the Patna Metro Rail Project – Phase I.
Package PC-08 involves design and construction of single tunnel between Bihar and Patna Museum by shield tunnel boring machine (TBM), fire escapes, ancillary buildings, entry and exits building including architectural finishing, water supply, sanitary installation and drainage works. Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) was awarded contract for the same.
Phase I of the project involves the development of a 31.39 km long metro rail network in Patna, Bihar at an estimated cost of Rs 139.25 billion. It involves the development of two corridors, viz. Corridor 1 (Danapur Cantt-Mithapur) and Corridor 2 (Patna Junction-Patna ISBT).
