The MoP has notified the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) (Amendment) Rules, 2024. To be eligible for claiming fixed charges for surplus power, generating companies will now have to offer the quantum of power not requisitioned by discoms in the power exchange. Power generators that do not offer their surplus power will now be ineligible to claim capacity or fixed charges corresponding to that surplus quantum.
