DPA launches SAAGAR scheme

The Deendayal Port Authority has launched the Strategic Actions to Aid Growth and Rewards (SAAGAR) scheme. Approved by the board on March 11, 2024, the scheme includes several key components aimed at incentivising traffic growth. These include a minimum volume commitment of 0.5 million metric tonnes over 11 months, dedicated yard space on a licensing basis, a new monthly licensing fee structure, and a telescopic discount on wharfage for volumes exceeding the committed quantity. It also prioritises berthing for participating vessels and introduces a fair and incentivising fee and penalty structure for berth hire charges.
