Lt Commander B.M. Ravindranath Reddy has held several positions in the Andhra Pradesh government. Currently, he is working as the deputy CEO, APMB. He also holds additional responsibility as Managing Director (MD) of Andhra Pradesh Gas Infrastructure Corporation and MD of Andhra Pradesh Economic Cities Promotion and Development Corporation. He is also in charge of the business development activities and has spearheaded the conceptualisation and development of a number of initiatives that have accelerated the revenue growth of APMB.
Some of the initiatives towards which Lt Cdr Reddy is working include migration of cargo movement from land to waterways and utilisation of maritime routes to connect Andhra Pradesh to trade regions in India and neighbouring countries, aggregation of cargo from interior parts of the state to facilitate more export-import movement and value realisation for farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises, increase in coastal shipping by roll-on/roll-off shipping services and embedding green initiatives in greenfield port development, such as green belt development, solar power system, efficient management of effluent treatment plants and sewage treatment plants, etc.
Lt Cdr Reddy is an ex-naval officer and has served as a Marine Commando in MARCOS in Sri Lanka (during Indian Peace Keeping Force operations), Rameswaram area, North-East, Lakshadweep, etc. Owing to his vast experience in the maritime sector and in administrative roles, he has been designated as the nodal officer for central initiatives such as the Sagarmala programme, PM Gati Shakti programme, etc.
He recalls his most memorable assignment as leading APMB from its creation in 2019. He has been involved in the conceptualisation, planning and execution of the large-scale maritime infrastructure development and port-led economy that has been taking place in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, he has led the preparation of the Andhra Pradesh Natural Gas Policy. He is spearheading the formulation of a master plan to create infrastructure to ensure availability and distribution of natural gas across the state. He has been at the forefront of policy decisions, such as the reduction in value added tax on natural gas from 24.5 per cent to 5 per cent.
Lt Cdr Reddy is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy. As a keen student of Geopolitics, he spends time in studying global geopolitics, identifying trends and opportunities presented by various geopolitical scenarios and analysing their implications for the national and state economy.
