ER’s Jamalpur Railway Workshop commissions largest solar plant

Eastern Railway’s (ER’s) Jamalpur Railway Workshop has commissioned the largest solar power plant with an overall capacity of 3.7 Megawatt peak (MWp) under the Indian Railways (IR). It has been developed through public-private-partnership (PPP) mode on net metering. The facility will annually neutralise carbon emission by 4,321 tonnes along with annual electricity production of 5.4 million tonnes (mt). An affordable tariff rate of Rs 5.43 per Kilo Watt hours (KWh) has been determined for the facility.
