The Carlyle Group is reportedly planning to sell its entire 24 per cent stake in Nxtra Data Limited, the data centre subsidiary of Bharti Airtel. Carlyle acquired a 24 per cent stake in Nxtra Data in 2020 for approximately Rs 17.8 billion. Carlyle’s plan to exit the Airtel data centre business coincides with investor interest in leveraging India’s digital transformation through investments in critical infrastructure such as data centres. However, a formal sale process is yet to commence.
