MoPSW approves projects worth Rs 8.09 billion for SMPK

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has recently approved re-construction of berth no. 8 and mechanisation of berth nos. 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhash Dock of Kolkata Dock System (KDS), Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata. The project will be executed on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis under public-private partnership (PPP) mode in West Bengal for a concession period of 30 years. The capacity and estimated cost of the project are 448,140 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per annum and Rs 8.09 billion respectively.
Under the Sagarmala Programme, a total of 62 projects valued at Rs 163 billion are being implemented in West Bengal. Of this, 19 projects worth Rs 11 billion have been completed, while 43 projects are under various stages of implementation. Additionally, the MoPSW is partially funding 11 projects which are valued at Rs 6.5 billion. Of these, six projects worth Rs 4 billion have been completed, while five projects worth Rs 2.5 billion are under development.
