Construction work for new building of T2 under Chennai Airport Modernisation Project to commence by March

The construction work for a new building of terminal T2 under the Chennai airport modernisation project-phase II is likely to commence by end of March 2024. The terminal will be developed on an area of 60,000 square metres (sq m) and merged with T2, increasing the size of the integrated terminal building to 197,000 sq m and will be used for both domestic and international passengers. Besides, the capacity of the airport will be increased from 25 million passengers per annum (mppa) to 35 mppa. The project involves the enhancement of the runway capacity, apron capacity and terminal building capacity, new international terminal and other facilities at the Chennai airport in Tamil Nadu.
