TBM S93 achieves final breakthrough at Chunniganj Station of Kanpur Metro

Tunnel boring machine (TBM) S93 achieved the final breakthrough at Chunniganj Station under Package KNPCC-05 of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project-Phase I on February 23, 2024. It is the final tunnel breakthrough and seventh of the eight breakthroughs planned under package connecting MacRobertganj Ramp – Nayaganj Station.
The package involves construction of a portion of the up-line tunnel of Line-1 (IIT Kanpur – Naubasta) section. The joint venture (JV) of SAM India Built Well Private Limited and Gülermak Ağır Sanayi İnşaat ve Taahhüt A.Ş. were awarded the contract for the same.
The Kanpur metro project involves development of 33 km long metro rail system in the city of Uttar Pradesh at an investment of Rs 110.76 billion.
