The government of Tamil Nadu has inaugurated a WTP in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0. The scope of work included the design and construction of the WTP with a capacity of 178.30 mld on a DBO basis. It utilises water from the river Bhavani to enhance water supply to the newly incorporated areas of Coimbatore corporation and operation and maintenance of the plants for 10 years, guaranteeing an uninterrupted supply of clean and safe drinking water to eight newly included Town Panchayats in Coimbatore district: Kurichi, Kuniamuthur, Thudiyalur, Vellakinaru, Chinnavedampatty, Saravanampatty, Kalapatty, and Vilankurichi.
